Malala Yousafzai is a Pakstani activist for female education. She is mainly known for human rights advocacy for education, which has grown into an international movement. On 10 October 2014 she was announced as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for her struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.

Malala has become an important symbol in the struggle to give girls the opportunity of an education, after the Nobel lecture, she held an impressive speech. Malala is a great speaker, and in here speech Malala established credibility, she draws on emotions and she builds logic of her arguments.

To establish credibility Malala describes personal experiences from the situation in her country. She talks about many of here "sisters" which has gone thru the same ass here, and also worse. To heighten her credibility even more she describes incidents that have happened to them. By describing such terrible and harsh situations, Malala create common ground with the audience, and it is then easier to trust what she is saying. She also starts many of the sentences with "dear brothers and sisters". This includes everyone in her work.

Malala has a great speaker-voice, she really speaks with conviction. The tone of here voice create emotions by it self, you can here that this is something she would risk here life for. As I mentioned in the last paragraph Malala tells stories to establish credibility, but these stories also creates emotions for the audience. It is almost impossible to not to get emotional when hearing her stories. Another way to create emotions is the use humor, Malala mentioned several times here brothers. She says: "Along with that, along with that, I am pretty certain that I am also the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize who still fights with her younger brothers".

I think that it is obvious that what Malala is fighting for is logical, but for those who don't, I hope they change their mind by listening to Malala's speech. She describes how the situation was before the campaign, how it is now, how much better it has became, and how much better it could be. By describing these things Malala builds the logic of her argument. She also uses repetition a lot.

Malala is a great rhetoric; she uses all the tree modes, ethos, pathos and logos. She has a lot of personal experience behind the subject. She has gone thru so much, and still she choses to stand up for her opinion. The fact that she has gone thru so much establishes her credibility, and also draws on people’s emotions, and builds the logic of her argument. She is a great speaker, with a background that we need to her about. She is the perfect girl for a campaign like this.

  1. Your blog post has very good structure, with a suitable introduction and conclusion. In addition, you have managed to point out relevant examples of how ethos, pathos and logos are used in the speech, as well as their function. Very good!
